“The noblest pleasure is
The joy of understanding”
Leonardo Da Vinci
Yesterday I met with my friend Eileen and we had a marvelous lunch at the Grange Cafe in Duvall, WA. After lunch we walked down to the river and saw the beauty of the river on a warm and sunny day. As we walked we talked and talked and shared our lives with each other. Walking back to our cars we began to see the town of Duvall with new eyes. On every possible fixture including light poles and around trees and on the sidewalks there is art. Much of it is welded art which reminded me of my friend Mimi Riley an exceptional metal artist–check her out at Studio Steel.
“When you do things from your soul,
you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”
We had such a good time and promised to repeat this experience of love, beauty, nature and art soon. On the drive home, I was thinking what an exceptionally good idea the lunch was and how good I felt deepening the connection with my friend. Then, BOOM! In front of me was a huge snowy mountain. I’d been on this road before and had not seen this mountain! How is that possible? This was the first time I’d driven this road on a brilliantly clear sunny day. By the time I realized it was Mount Rainier, it was hidden behind the closer mountains and I only saw glimpses of the tips of the grand volcano a couple of times more before it was lost to view. What a perfect ending to a perfect day!
Cherishing our relationships with family and friends is a great blessing in life. I encourage you to spend a little time, one-on-one, with a friend. You will love yourself and your friend and the time you spend together.
